i heard the interview and noted Fran did not want to hear any argument for licenced shooters to kill feral animals in national parks. Pigs especially could carry
disease and do destroy crops beyond the boundaries.

I agree that the Shooter’s Party are, for the most part, a reactionary pain in the butt. I think it’s problematic when we become so closed minded that we can’t look at an issue on its merits, and dangerous when journalists do so.

I normally love the ABC for it’s leanings to teh left but this is a typical example of the closed minded attitude which I despise. Guns are bad, ergo anyone who owns or *gasp* uses one is very, very bad indeed and you should probably be afraid of them because they’re obviously some kind of weirdo. I’ve gotten used to changing the channel/turning the radio off in such situations, no point getting bent out of shape over it.

Having said that, the Shooters Party is firmly on my shit list because they (along with resident nut job Fred Nile) refused to support a bill which would have protected the fertile farming land on the Liverpool Plains from mining exploration because it was a “greenie” bill. Cunts!

Sounds to me like the interviewer was aiming this squarely metro dwellers and not interested in taking a more bi-partisan approach.

Hunters in general get bad press and it’s my opinion that it’s more than likely a minority that spoils it for the majority.
